Hard drives, solid-state drives, phones, tapes and other media are shredded at our Orillia facility, or wiped with certified software when you ask for that instead. Every serial number is recorded, and the certificate comes back to you.
Data-bearing devices that arrive at EDI are physically shredded by default. If a device still has value and your policy allows it, we wipe it with certified software instead, so it can be reused or resold and you receive a credit. You decide which, lot by lot.
Each lot is tracked under the lot number it is given when it arrives. Drive serial numbers are recorded against that lot, so the report you get back shows what happened to every one.
What it is, roughly how much, where it is, and anything controlled or holding data. We reply with a written quote.
Our own truck and driver come to your dock in Ontario and Quebec. From elsewhere in Canada, you ship to Orillia and we help plan it.
Your load gets its own lot number and is weighed in Orillia. A receiving report goes to you.
Destroyed, recycled, or tested and resold. Serial numbers are recorded where the job calls for it.
Your certificates and a settlement report arrive, and the lot is closed.
What was destroyed, how, when and where, with serial numbers when recorded.
For IT assets and drives: what happened to each serial number.
What arrived and what it weighed, by lot.
Not everything with a drive in it has to be scrap. Send us the list before the job and we will tell you which items still have resale value once they are wiped. That is the work of our IT asset management team, and it can offset the cost of the destruction.
Yes. Drive serial numbers are recorded against your lot, and the serial-level audit report lists each one with what happened to it.
Yes, on request. We use certified wiping software and each drive gets an erasure record. Drives that fail the wipe are shredded.
No. Send the machines as they are. We remove the drives, record the serial numbers and recycle the rest. For a full server room, see data centre decommissioning.
It depends on what your policy requires. Tell us the standard and the sensitivity of the data and we will confirm the method in writing before pickup. The guide Data destruction standards in plain words explains the common ones.
Retired laptops, servers, phones and network gear tested, wiped and resold, with a credit and a serial-level report.
Racks out, drives destroyed with serial reports, equipment resold or recycled, by one crew on one invoice.
Controlled parts, boards and assemblies destroyed in Ontario by a company registered with Canada's Controlled Goods Program.
NIST SP 800-88 and CCCS ITSP.40.006 explained without the jargon, and the questions to ask before drives leave your building.
